Steps
Season the beef pieces with salt and pepper. Then, let the seasoned beef sit on the counter at room temperature for about 15 - 20 minutes.
Place a large heavy - bottomed pan or Dutch oven over medium - high heat. Add the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the beef pieces in a single layer and quickly sear them for no longer than 1 - 2 minutes.
Remove the seared beef from the pan and place it on a plate. Reserve the beef for later use.
Using the same pan, sauté the onions over medium heat for about 2 - 3 minutes, until they start to become translucent.
Add the garlic to the pan and sauté until it becomes fragrant, which should take about 1 - 2 minutes.
Add the sliced mushrooms to the pan and sauté them until they wilt down, which will take about 5 - 6 minutes.
Add the reserved beef back into the pan. Then, add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Sauté the mixture for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan. Simmer the mixture for about 2 minutes, stirring and scraping any bits off the sides and bottom of the pan.
Add the cream to the pan and simmer for just a couple more minutes. Once done, your Brazilian Beef Stroganoff is ready!
